Bisque Firing

I fired up my kiln yesterday for the first time since we moved it into the studio.  My friend Sherry's very first project is a vessel about 12" tall of white earthenware.  She decorated it with ivy vines and leaves.  I was really happy when I opened it today, and it was still in one piece and looked great.  She was so excited and eager to see her first piece actually become a piece of pottery.  We have the glaze firing to go on that.  Now that will be the exciting part.

Time to Play in the Mud

18:32:49

Went to the pottery supply store today in Charlotte with my sister, Phyllis, and my friend, Sherry.    Sherry's enthusiasm to learn pottery has inspired me to switch from painting for a while, and play in the mud again.

Between the 3 of us, we purchased 1,000 pounds of clay, which we hauled home in the back of my SUV.  It was settin' low, let me tell you.  500 pounds of that was mine, so I better get busy!  I'll be publishing photos of my projects as completed.  Can't wait to get started!
